Description

Rare Raspberry Red Beryl (also sometimes called Bixbite) & Topaz ? Location: Thomas Range? Juab Co.? Utah. Thumbnail (see photo for more details). This specimen was collected in 2019; this specimen is from the John Holfert/Jeremy Fuller private collection. When it comes to red beryl? Utah is the ?place?. Red beryl was first discovered and described by Maynard Bixby from the Thomas Range (type locality) in the late 1890s. By the way? Maynard Bixby also first discovered and described bixbyite from the Thomas Range. Here we have an attractive and rare tabular raspberry red beryl crystal perched on a topaz crystal from the Thomas Range in Utah. This is an attractive specimen of the tabular variety of red beryl. The beryl crystal is well-formed and sharp and has a raspberry red color.
