Description
Raspberry Red Beryl (also sometimes called Bixbite) on Volcanic Rhyolite Matrix (Direct Mine source) – Location: Thomas Range Juab Co. Utah. Miniature (see photo for more details). When it comes to red beryl Utah is the place. Red beryl was first discovered and described by Maynard Bixby from the Thomas Range (type locality) in the late 1890s. By the way Maynard Bixby also first discovered and described bixbyite from this same locale. Here we have a great gemmy raspberry red beryl crystal from the Thomas Range in western Utah. Here we have a nice red beryl crystal on a volcanic rhyolite matrix from the Thomas Range in Utah. This is a nice tabular red beryl crystal and the crystal is a complete crystal. The beryl is a raspberry red color which is different from the “normal” dark red color that usually characterizes the red beryl from the Thomas Range.
